Saved By A Rake by Em Taylor

What a wonderful story!!!  I absolutely loved it.  First, let me say that Ms.  Taylor handled a delicate situation beautifully. From the synopsis, we know that Rebecca has been hurt in one of the worst ways possible.  Daniel, a handsome rake, steps in as her protector.  The love, patience and understanding he handles her with is admirable.  I want my own Daniel.  LOL  But seriously, I cried at some parts, knowing the pain Rebecca dealt with and the frustration Daniel went through.  I laughed at the egos and male posturing later on in the story.  And, not to mention Rebecca's innocence and curiousity that had Daniel lost for words at times.
I have to say that I truly loved this story.  I highly recommend this book!

When Lady Rebecca Eversley is left ravished by the Earl of Newthorpe and facing ruination, she has the choice to point her pretty little nose in the air and face the gossips of the Ton or scurry off to the country to live out her life as an old maid. When she meets Lord Daniel Ramsey, a notorious rake, she decides on the former course of action.
Daniel has been given an ultimatum, marry before his father dies or lose the majority of his inheritance money. Rebecca seems the perfect candidate, especially once rumours about her start to circulate in the drawing rooms of Mayfair.
When Newthorpe is found dead on the morning of their wedding, the people they care about find themselves suspects in the case. Who murdered Newthorpe and can Rebecca ever get over what he did to her?

Updates on Reviews

Hello friends! I just wanted to provide a quick update and let you know that I haven't disappeared from the face of the planet...I promise!

With the kids being home for the summer and my growing belly, things got wayyyy behind. Now, we have the kids back in school and a newborn little girl. So, it's been a bit hectic, to say the least. Now I see why companies give 6 weeks for new moms to return to work. It's just insanity!!

Anyway, I am getting my head on straight again and will resume my reviews. I've read some AMAZING books lately (easier to set down a book then to stop typing, when the kids needed me) and now have to catch up reviews for those books as well as a few new requests that have come in. I also would love to do some unsolicited reviews for books that I really loved.

Thank you for your patience. And, for those who sent me well wishes and congratulatory messages...THANK YOU.

Here's our little peanut, Julianna, born 9/9/13.

Much love to you all!!  <3

Hers to Choose by Patricia Knight

Hers to Choose

by

Patricia Knight

I'd like to first say that this is book two, the first book is called Hers to Command.  My review for that book is HERE

Now, some readers will be able to jump right in to book two and catch up fairly well with the story.  However, it is my recommendation that you read the previous book first, to best understand everything in book two, Hers to Choose.

With that being said, once again, I truly enjoyed Ms. Knight's erotic story.  There is a lot to understand about how the planet Verdantia needs it's people to flourish, who the enemies are as well as how the characters all fit together.  And, again, that can best be explained in book one.  Book two starts off with a prologue that will give you some insight as to what is going on.  Then, the story itself starts off with a bang...um, pun intended  *wink*.

From there, the story is one of high emotion.  Between the danger and the love, I was constantly in a state of anxious reading.  The heroine, Sophi, whom we met in book one, has seen much pain and suffering in her life.  She has spent the last few years turning everything around and is a flight leader in charge of a group of women archer's with exceptional fighting skill.  She has evolved to a woman of great strength, amazing bravery and exceptional leadership.  A strong woman in every sense of the word.  However, her brother has sent word that she should consider a joining with Commander DeStroia to help serve their beloved planet.  She reluctantly agrees, if only to fulfill her duty and return to her life as flight leader shortly after.

Commander Eric DeStroia is commissioned to accompany Lady Sophi on a long journey which will bring her back to her brother.  Along the way, the two encounter danger after danger after danger.  Lady Sophi is a prize for the enemy and they go out of their way to kidnap her.  As I mentioned earlier, there is much danger.  There are violent confrontations, sword fighting, deaths, torture and kidnapping.  Somewhere through it all, Sophi and Eric begin to see more to one another.  They have a powerful connection that no one knows about nor understands.  But, it is that very connection that will lead to victory for the people of Verdentia.

Our tetriarch makes a return appearance, as one is Sophi's brother...remember Doral?  There is a wonderful HEA, which I love!  And, of course, a planet that survives on sexual arousal creates a story packed with HOT sex to make the pulse race.  I enjoy erotic stories.  I enjoy romance.   I enjoy science fiction.  When you put the three together, as Ms. Knight has done, a triad of entertainment is created.  If you enjoy these types of stories, you will love this one as well.  But, again, grab book one FIRST!

The previous book Hers to Command can be found here:  http://amzn.com/B00D5KVIV2

To preserve their civilization, a disillusioned warrior and a violated innocent need to put aside the trauma of their past to confront a present evil.

Mentally scarred from her years as prisoner to the off-world invaders, Lady Sophillia Glorianna DeLorion, doubts she can be a fit sexual partner for any man...

...even one whose passionate green eyes make her remember what it is to desire.

Commander of the Queen’s Royal Guard, Eric DeStroia had grown up watching the corrosive, soul-killing effects of arranged, aristocratic marriage and vowed to remain alone. But under his hardened military exterior, Eric has a kind heart. When the second Tetriarch suggests he marry a noble woman rescued from the enemy, Eric reconsiders, consoling himself with visions of sheltering a wounded dove under his mighty arm. Instead, he discovers a fierce falcon that refuses to stoop to his lure.

In the aftermath of their resounding defeat, a survivor from the enemy camp plotted a return to Verdantia to exact retribution. His first objective is the recapture of Lady Sophillia DeLorion. She had been unreachable until she went to the Oshtesh. Now, only Eric DeStroia stands in his way.

The Petrosian Invitation by TP Keating

The Petrosian Invitation by T.P. Keating

I really enjoyed this story. It was a nice change from the normal 'vampire romance' books because it dealt more with the characters and their interaction with one another than the vampire aspect. The reader knows what Oleg is, but as they read the story, they start to understand who he is. And, I truly enjoyed Sam and her sister, Zoe. Not being British, some of their humorous comments flew over my head at first (happens to me a LOT by the way), but once I caught on, I found the story to be quite entertaining. I believe the author has thoughts of acquiring a new cover. Otherwise, I did find a few typos but nothing to take away from the story, itself. I read it in one sitting and truly enjoyed it. Hope you do as well!

Oleg Petrosian, the self-made Russian Billionaire, wonders when his un-beating heart will experience a glimmer of love. On a business trip to London, to seal a gas deal, he meets Sam Latham, the chef at a swanky restaurant in South Kensington. After she caters for a business meeting at his nearby home, his private Learjet (flown by his cosmonaut sister) whisks Oleg, Sam and her younger actress sister to Oleg's cliff top home in Russia's Anapa, a health resort on the Black Sea. But can their fledgling romance survive Oleg's deep, dark secret?

"How easy it is, to walk in. How hard it can be to leave. When her life was strewn with the wreckage of emotional betrayals, by men she had loved and trusted. Wreckage that had left scars no eye could see, but which cut down to her very soul. The soul of a woman with so much love to give. But that was before, back in London. To hell with those idiot boys! Let their names be ripped from the history book, burned to a crisp and scattered on the four winds. May their search for love forever be damned. Here and now, on this glorious summer day, she declared the scars well and truly healed. She walked in because she wanted to walk in. Deliberately, and with her head held high."

So Many Books, So Little Time

I've been reading a LOT over the past two weeks.  Mostly, because the kids have had a hectic school schedule and now summer break is upon us.  We are adjusting to the new schedule, as well as OB visits for me, dentist visits for the kids and other random things.  So, it's been easy to start a book and then pause it while I handle the day-to-day stuff. Writing is a bit tricky because that requires undivided attention.  LOL

Didn't want you all to think I've fallen off the planet.  I have read some AMAZING books lately.  In fact, thanks to a few email lists I am on, I grab between one to five new freebies PER DAY.  From medieval romance to thrillers and more!  Now, I just need to review them.  LOL

I don't always ask to review books, nor do I get many requests at present.  However, I just love to read, love to write and combine the two loves in to reviews that I hope will draw more readers to these wonderful authors.  I also use some of the Amazon reviews I've previously done and expand on them for my blog readers.

I don't give "star" ratings though.  I wonder though...do my readers want me to?  Leave me a comment and let me know.  I am not sure if the typical 5 stars is enough.  MOST of the books I read are 4 or 5 and I feel redundant and maybe even unrealistic if I keep giving only 4 or 5.  Is there a better rating?  Like grades between 4 and 5.  If it's only a 3, I usually don't finish it and therefore, don't even review it.  I just keep quiet about it cause I don't think I am helping the author with a rating of less than 4...I'd rather just not review it.

Anyway, would LOVE your comments, thoughts, ideas, suggestions and questions...just leave them in the comment box.  Surely, someone else will have the same thoughts as you and benefit from the feedback.

More Reviews Coming SOON!!!!

Hot on Her Trail by Sable Hunter

Hot on Her Trail

in the Hell Yeah! Series

by Sable Hunter

First, let me say that this is book two in a series, just so you know that ahead of time.  Ms. Hunter has done a fabulous job of creating a book series where each book is ALSO intended to stand alone.  I love that!  Nothing worse then getting in to an awesome story only to be left hanging and have to buy (if you can) the next book.  There are plenty of characters to create a very long series of HOT stories that will get your heart racing in more ways then one.

Now, let's get on to this particular book.  In this book, Jessie and Jacob have come in to one anothers acquaintance in an unusual manner.  I won't go in to that, since the synopsis, sample chapters and book itself will reveal all. Let's just say that a baby is the center of their meeting.  What neither banked on was an intense sexual and emotional relationship.  Jessie, like too many women, has lived a life feeling inadequate and ugly.  Her family & friends made her feel that her curves were ugly and her disability was embarrassing.  But, that changes when Jacob sees her and begins to help her feel beautiful, smart and wanted.  But, with a lifetime of self-doubt, it is hard for Jessie to truly believe Jacob wants her.

The McCoys are a strong, close family of almost completely males with one exception, which is Libby (meet her in Book One).  Jacob is the second oldest and after years of sowing his "wild oats" he now is ready to settle down.  He's always been the heart of the family and now he finds that his own heart craves more.  In Jessie, Jacob finds everything he could ever want and more than he'd ever dreamt of.  The only problem is getting her to believe that...oh and the fact that suspicious heinous acts are happening on the family ranch AND Jessie's past is coming back to haunt her at Tebow.

This story is full of hot sex, adoration, love, family bonding as well as dark and dangerous happenings that threaten a future for Jacob and Jessie.  For awhile, I was shocked and scared, but by the end, everything turned around.  I love my Happily Every Afters!!

There are sneak peaks of a couple of the other books in the series and I am anxious to get my hands on the other books.  I've set my sights on Book Three, Her Magic Touch, to see what happens between Joseph and Cady.  As I said, each book is stand alone, but at the same time, I can't wait to go forward in the story, which would take me to number three.  I will have to back track to number one at some point!  *LOL*

Final thoughts:  Loved it!  Romantic, funny, dramatic, a little scary for awhile but a wonderful HEA and a damn HOT cover to boot!!!

An Erotic Romance Jacob McCoy wishes for a wife and a family. Tis the Season for miracles when a young woman shows up on his doorstep: homeless, in danger and expecting a child - Jacob's child.

Their relationship is complicated by the fact that, A - they've never met before and B - she's a virgin. Jessie is determined not to be a burden to the McCoy family. As far as she's concerned, she is just passing through. Jacob has a different opinion - he wants Jessie in his life, in his bed and in his heart.
*synopsis via Amazon.com*
This became one of my favorite sections, right off the bat!

"This morning, Nathan went out to look for Noah’s phone. He spotted something in the stock tank, and came barreling back in the house swearing there was a mermaid out there taking a swim. Nothing would do, but for me to go check it out.“ Jacob grinned.

Joseph feigned interest, embarrassed by his own outburst. “I guess he was imagining things - or did you find a beautiful woman from the sea?”

“Yes, as a matter of fact, I did.” At that, Joseph jerked his head up and looked at his brother, trying to see if he was kidding.

“You found a girl in the stock tank?” Aron and Libby said they had a stock tank story, but they wouldn’t share it. Aron said it was too precious and personal to talk about, even with his brothers. Joseph wanted a chance to make memories like that with a woman. He was afraid those dreams would have to be placed on the shelf with his parachute and his running shoes.

“No, I found her in our barn. Stunningly naked.” Jacob drawled the information with the most satisfied smirk that Joseph could ever remember seeing on his brother’s face.

Joseph snorted. “Lucky bastard!”

“She may not have been a mermaid like Nathan first thought,” Jacob smiled, fire in his eyes. “But, he was close. She’s a goddess.”

Joseph looked back out the window. “If she’s in the barn - stunningly naked - what in hell are you doing in here?”

Good question.

Hers to Command by Patricia Knight

Hers to Command

by Patricia Knight

First, I'd like to remind you that this is an erotic book.  Second, I'd like to mention that it is a menage, with M/F/M characters.  For some, this may not be a good fit, so I wanted to put that out there before continuing.  I typically do not read menages, nor do I read M/M erotica.  However, with that being said, I truly enjoyed this book AND adored Fleur, Ari and Doral.  This is far more than three people having sex, it is a story about duty, honor, love, magic and commitment.

So, now let's get to the story at hand. To begin with, we are far in to the future, with a solar date of 4633.  We are on a magical planet called Verdantia, who can speak to her inhabitants with a special connection.  I won't explain everything to you here because you need to read the story to better understand the situation.

What I truly loved about this story is that Fleur is a hell-cat that is not only determined to help her people, and do her duty, but she has an open heart and open mind for not only Ari, but Doral as well.  Ari comes off being very harsh, not willing to go further than his duty, but ends up falling for Fleur.  Doral, always popping up where least expected (he's a spy after all) add a mystique to his character, and although flawed and hurt in the past has a good heart.

Not only do the trio find a place with each other, but a purpose that is greater than any one person's role and they get a unique happily ever after.  I truly enjoyed Ms. Knight's writing style, creativity and ability to express so much emotion.

Released June 4th!!  Grab it HERE:  http://amzn.com/B00D5KVIV2

In an intricate dance of friendship, erotic partnership and selfless love, three natives of the sentient planet Verdantia must come together in an extraordinary effort to save their world…and themselves.

With the lives of the people of the planet hanging in the balance, Verdantia calls three of her own to restore her power. The impossible but gorgeous Conte Camliel Aristos DeTano, the beautiful, innocent future queen Princess Fleur Constante, and the conte’s loyal aide, the angelically handsome yet emotionally-scarred Visconte Doral DeLorion, must fight their own personal demons and assimilate in a poly relationship, lest their planet be lost.

The attraction between the three is palpable and so strong it will either bind them together forever—and restore strength to the energy shield of their planet’s capital—or destroy each of them.
What ensues is a passionate journey that explores and tests trust, friendship and the true meaning of love.
